PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Positioning

The rapid development of mobile communication technology brings sharp growth in the number of mobile phone users. This growth creates increasingly high requirements for network quality. Besides enhancing network coverage, operators also need to increase network capacity to meet rapid increases in traffic volume.

In many hot spots, insufficient of network capacity and the existence of blind spots greatly affect user experience. To solve these problems, operators urgently need an accurate and low-cost coverage solution with flexible site deployment.

Following the philosophy of continuous innovation based on customers’ requirements, unveils the industry-leading WCDMA mini base station BTS3902E. Characterized by its small size, light weight, plug-and-play functionality, auto-configuration, and no requirements for shelter or equipment room, the BTS3902E is flexible in site acquisition and deployment, making it a quick and flexible site solution for operators.

The BTS3902E is a bi-carrier product. Figure 1-1 shows the unit.

BENEFITS

Compact Structure for Quick Network Construction

With a highly integrated design, the BTS3902 is small, light, and requires less spare parts, making it easy to install and maintain. The BTS3902E features strong environment adaptability and has no need for an equipment room. It can be flexibly mounted on a wall or a pole. The BTS3902E supports both integrated and separated antennas.

Expanded Capacity and Enhanced Coverage

The BTS3902E accurately absorbs traffic, and therefore expands network capacity and reduces blind spots. This helps operators enhance network quality and user experience.

Low Power Consumption and Energy Saving

The BTS3902E is another green base station. It assists operators in constructing eco-friendly networks.

Smooth Evolution and CAPEX Saving

The BTS3902E supports HSPA+, and can provide high-speed data services in urban hot spots.

ARCHITECTURE

Overview

the BTS3902E is an integrated base station with the following main

units: transmission interface unit, main processing unit, baseband processing unit, and RF unit.

Structure:

The function of each unit is as follows:
Transmission interface unit
Provide ports for communication with the RNC and the operation and maintenance (O&M)
channels to LMT or M2000.
Main processing unit
Manages the entire BTS3902E in a centralized manner in terms of O&M and signaling
processing. Also, provides the system clock.
Baseband processing unit
Schedules and processes the uplink and downlink user-plane data on the Iub interface.
RF unit
Modulates, demodulates, processes, and combines and divides baseband signals and RF
signals.
Antenna unit
Receives and transmits UMTS signals.

INSTALLATION SCENARIOS

The BTS3902E is ideal in outdoor installation scenarios. It can be installed on a wall, pole, or

L-shaped rack.

APPLICATION SCENARIOS

The BTS3902E works well for covering hot spots and reducing blind spots. Insufficient
network capacity in hot spots and blind spots greatly affect user experience. With its flexible
deployment, the low-cost BTS3902E helps operators solve these problems.
BTS3902E operation and maintenance (O&M) covers management, monitoring, and
maintenance of the software, hardware, and configuration of BTS3902Es. In addition,
BTS3902Es allow diversified O&M modes in different scenarios.

Operation and Maintenance Modes

The BTS3902Es support near-end, far-end, and reverse operation and maintenance (O&M).
In near-end O&M mode, maintenance personnel log in the local maintenance terminal
(LMT) through a local Ethernet maintenance port to maintain BTS3902Es.
In far-end O&M mode, maintenance personnel centrally maintain BTS3902Es on the
M2000 or LMT in the radio network controller (RNC) equipment room or operation and
maintenance center (OMC).
In reverse maintenance mode, maintenance personnel maintain a BTS3902E under the
same RNC as the current BTS3902E through a local Ethernet service port on the LMT.
The IP route between the current BTS3902E and the other BTS3902E is established by
the RNC
The O&M system of BTS3902Es consists of the following elements:
LMT: is mainly used to locally or remotely maintain BTS3902Es and configure data.
BTS3902E: is the O&M object.
M2000: short for iManager M2000 Mobile Element Management System, which
centrally manages  network devices; the M2000 also remotely and centrally
manages multiple base stations.
CME: short for Configuration Management Express, which can configures and manages
data for multiple base stations.
BTS3902E O&M modes have the following features:
Supports the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Adaptive and Active
Cache Pool (AACP). When no data is configured for the system or when the system is
faulty, the O&M channel can be automatically set up. This enhances the system
reliability and facilitates remote troubleshooting.
Supports configuration baseline, simplifying the configuration rollback process and
improving configuration rollback reliability.
Provides a comprehensive system self-check function, omitting local software
commissioning.

Alarm Management

Alarm management involves equipment alarm management and environment alarm
management.
Equipment alarm management
The alarm management system detects and reports information about faults in real time.
The LMT or M2000 then displays the alarm information and provides appropriate
handling suggestions.
The alarm management system of the M2000 connects to an alarm box through a serial
port and supports audible and visual alarms through the LEDs or the alarm box. The
maintenance personnel can subscribe to specific alarms. When related alarms are
generated, the alarm information is forwarded to the handsets or pagers of the
maintenance personnel so that they can rectify the faults in time.
Environment alarm management
Generally, equipment rooms of NodeBs are unattended and distributed over a large area.
The equipment works in a relatively adverse environment, and emergency cases may
incur. To help you handle such emergencies, the BTS3902E provides a complete alarm
management system.
Alarm management provides the following functions:
Alarm detecting/Alarm reporting/Alarm shielding/Alarm acknowledging/Alarm pre-processing/Alarm correlation processing/Alarm help processing.

Operation and Maintenance Functions

The OM subsystem of the BTS3902E provides functions such as commissioning management,

equipment management, software management, alarm management, security management,

and environment monitoring.

Commissioning Management

Commissioning management provides the following functions:
l  Equipment performance tests, such as CPU usage test, clock source quality test, and
power test
l  Service performance tests, such as uplink channel scanning and statistics for service
resource usage

Equipment Management

Equipment management consists of equipment maintenance and data configuration.
Equipment management has the following functions:
Equipment maintenance includes the maintenance of equipment, for example, managing
the status of equipment, performing self-check on the equipment, and calibrating the
clock.
Data configuration includes configuration, query, and backup of equipment parameters,
for example, configuring the parameters of the NodeB hardware, parameters of the
NodeB clock, algorithm parameters, and RF parameters.

Software Management

Software management provides the following functions:
Activating the software
Checking the compatibility of software and hardware versions
Managing versions, for example, querying hardware and software versions
Upgrading the software version, cold patch, and hot patch
